THE TECH TOOLBOX
Mi casa, su casa. Some of my favorite freebies.
Considering 90% of everything I find, I find it from Rich, this is will be my first share out. No matter what you teach, where you teach or how you teach, Free Tech is the bomb. I would start here. Not only does Rich pump out resources like an Exxon oil spill but his archive is searchable. This might be the only link you really need.

As a video editor for the past 15 years, WeVideo blows me away being that is free and online. I used to say all you need is on computer and one camera to make a movie. Now, I say all you need is a phone and some Wi-Fi.

The battle between Schoology and Edmodo to be your classroom portal is an epic one. Rather than try to take a side I think it's best for you to explore both. Collect assignments electronically, assess with ease, track progress, post funny pics, communicate with students, award neat-o badges plus a whole lot more. The electronic classroom is here and only a click away!
I've tried for years to try and think where comic creation wouldn't work with a grade level or curriculum and have come up empty. Pixton is super easy and super free so whether kids are explaining algebraic expression or the causes of the Civil War you're going to see engagement and learning!

Voki is a personal favorite. Boiled down, students can make their own avatars complete with speech (their own or text). The curricular possibilities are truly endless, a science bit by Carl Sagan, a confessional by Holden Caulfield, a speech never given during Reconstruction by Lincoln...... put on your kid hat, amke something and then turn it around and engage your kids in both traditional and new literacies!
